The Fall of Us
The leaves were falling
in showers of gold and brown.
We jumped into piles of them
and rolled in the crinkling mounds
until we were breathless from laughter
and exhausted from crying tears of joy.
We recaptured our youth that day,
once again showing the world
our love didn’t change like the seasons.
